Climate local – new group to take action on climate change

Last month the Stokesley and Villages Community Partnership of local councils and community groups adopted a commitment to take action in a changing climate.

The Partnership agreed that the priorities for the Stokesley & Villages Community Plan will support local councils, community groups and individuals to work towards a zero-carbon area through:

• increasing opportunities for connecting with nature and local communities;
• improving public transport and walking / cycling networks;
• encouraging local food initiatives;
• sharing stories showing how people and organisations are reducing their carbon footprint locally.

A new group is being formed to help the communities in Stokesley and the surrounding villages to take action on climate change by supporting and developing local initiatives to reduce carbon emissions or adapt to the changing climate.

All welcome to the first meeting of the group which will be on Thursday 11th July, 7:30 – 9:00 pm in The Stokesley Room, Stokesley Town Hall, Market Place, Stokesley TS9 5DG.
